Cancer Survivors and Exercise Seminar

The Bardmoor Branch has been selected as one of 10 YMCAs in the United States to pilot a cancer survivorship collaborative with the Lance Armstrong Foundation. A key collaborative goal is to demonstrate that YMCAs can effectively involve cancer survivors in research-based programs that focus on specific wants, needs and interests related to exercise.

On September 25, the Bardmoor YMCA will be hosting a seminar presented by Anna Schwartz, a cancer survivor and the author of Cancer Fitness. Schwartz is one of a growing number of researchers who believe people in cancer treatment can greatly benefit from exercise. She will be discussing a variety of topics related to wellness, including how exercise can lift patients' moods, dramatically reduce fatigue and improve self-image.
